NDLEA Raids Pretty Mike’s Proxy Nightclub in Lagos, Arrests Over 100 in Early Morning Operation
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have raided Proxy Nightclub, a popular nightlife spot owned by socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, widely known as Pretty Mike, in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The raid, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, led to the arrest of Pretty Mike and over 100 other persons, including staff, DJs, and club patrons.
In a statement issued by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the operation followed “credible intelligence” suggesting that the club had become a hub for the sale and consumption of narcotics and other controlled substances.
“Following weeks of surveillance and actionable intelligence, our operatives stormed Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 26. The operation led to the recovery of quantities of opioids, ecstasy pills, and crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as ice),” Babafemi said.
According to the NDLEA, seized substances included tramadol, MDMA, loud (synthetic cannabis), and several sachets of unidentified powdered drugs pending laboratory analysis. A number of vehicles and electronic gadgets were also confiscated as exhibits.
The agency confirmed that those arrested are currently undergoing profiling and preliminary drug tests, after which individuals found clean will be released, while those linked to the illegal substances will face prosecution.
Babafemi emphasized that the NDLEA remains committed to sanitizing Lagos’ entertainment industry, warning club owners to desist from promoting or enabling drug-related activities.
“This operation is part of our renewed offensive against the use of nightclubs, lounges, and event spaces as cover for drug trafficking and consumption. We will not hesitate to shut down any establishment that aids or abets the spread of illicit drugs,” he added.
As of press time, Pretty Mike has not made any public statement regarding the raid or his arrest.
Efforts to reach his representatives were unsuccessful.
The Proxy Nightclub, located on Adeola Hopewell Street, VI, is a known hotspot for celebrities and nightlife lovers in Lagos.
The Sunday morning raid drew attention across social media, with videos purportedly showing NDLEA vehicles and plainclothes officers outside the club circulating online.
The NDLEA has said more details on the operation and the identities of other suspects will be released after ongoing investigations.
