Lawyer Dies, Husband Granted Bail in Alleged Domestic Violence Fatality 

A 56-year-old woman, Barrister Felicia Temitope Odu, has reportedly died following an alleged incident of domestic abuse involving her husband, just weeks after she was called to the Nigerian Bar in September 2025.

According to reports shared by Gtoniabruisedbutnotbroken, the mother of three was allegedly beaten to death by her husband in the presence of one of their sons.

Relatives and neighbors have claimed that the violence had been ongoing for over 20 years, dating back to their courtship.

The late lawyer was reportedly the breadwinner of the family, having constructed their home and sponsored her children’s education. She was called to the Bar at the age of 56.

The husband was reportedly arrested two days ago in connection with the incident. However, he was later released on bail, a development that has triggered significant outrage among the public and the legal community.

Family sources indicate that Barrister Odu is scheduled to be laid to rest tomorrow.
