Ondo Police Arrest Father for Impregnating 15-Year-Old Daughter

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Oyewole Adamolekun for allegedly engaging in a prolonged incestuous relationship with his 15-year-old biological daughter, which resulted in pregnancy.

Police spokesperson DSP Olushola Ayanlade confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday in Akure, saying Adamolekun, a resident of Taye Village, Lafa 2, Ajue Area, was taken into custody after a formal complaint was lodged at the Enu-Owa Divisional Police Headquarters, Ondo Town.

According to Ayanlade, the case came to light on October 8, 2025, when a neighbour, Mr. Julius Olusola, reported that the suspect had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter since she was three years old.

“Acting swiftly on the report, officers of the division arrested the suspect,” Ayanlade said.

He added that the victim was taken to a medical facility, where an ultrasound examination confirmed that she was 19 weeks and two days pregnant.

“During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime,” he said, noting that the case had been transferred to the command’s gender desk for diligent investigation and expedited prosecution.

Ayanlade said the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, had condemned the act as both criminal and morally reprehensible, stressing that the command maintained a zero-tolerance policy toward all forms of sexual abuse, especially those involving minors.

Lawal assured that the command would ensure justice was served “with utmost urgency, professionalism, and precision,” and expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his commitment to protecting vulnerable persons nationwide.

He also warned that the command would not relent in arresting and prosecuting perpetrators of such crimes, while urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious behaviour or cases of abuse to the nearest police station.

“The command remains committed to protecting the rights, dignity, and safety of all residents of Ondo State,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has begun an investigation into the conduct of a soldier accused of causing the death of a commercial bus driver in Ondo State.

Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, Major Njoka Irabor, said in a statement on Thursday that the incident occurred on October 13, 2025, near a military checkpoint in Akunu, Akoko North-East Local Government Area.

According to Irabor, the bus driver, who was travelling from Akure to Abuja, had stopped near the checkpoint after experiencing mechanical problems. Passengers reportedly began demanding a refund of their fares, prompting one of them to seek help from a soldier on duty.

“Unfortunately, the soldier’s subsequent actions were unprofessional and in violation of military conduct,” the statement read.

Irabor said the Army immediately took responsibility for the driver’s medical care following the incident and had launched a swift disciplinary process to ensure accountability.

He reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to upholding professional standards and protecting civilians during military operations across the country.
