Mo Salah’s Two-Year Contract Extension With Liverpool, Sees Him at Anfield Till 2027

Mohamed Salah has put months of uncertainty over his future to rest by signing a new two-year contract extension with Liverpool Football Club.

The Egyptian striker will now remain at Anfield until the summer of 2027, which will be what could prove to be a decade-long association with the Reds.

The 32-year-old’s decision is amid keen interest from the Saudi Pro League, where he is said to have a number of clubs prepared to offer him a lucrative move.

However, Salah has decided to stay at Liverpool, citing his desire to win more honors and his relationship with manager Arne Slot as the reasons for committing his future to the club.

“I had my best years here. I played eight years; hopefully, it’s going to be 10. I’m enjoying my life here, enjoying my football,” Salah told a club statement, expressing his joy at the new contract.

The new contract allegedly makes Salah one of the Premier League’s top earners, with a £400,000 weekly wage. The financial terms reflect his soaring value to the club, both on and off the pitch.

Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has become a legend at the club. He has scored 243 goals in 394 appearances and is regarded as one of Liverpool’s greatest of all time.

His contributions this season have been particularly important—finding the back of the net 32 times and providing 22 assists so far, with the Reds 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League with just seven games remaining.

Manager Arne Slot attributed the club to doing what it took to retain the star forward, as securing Salah’s future is crucial to maintaining the team’s competitive edge.

“Retaining players like Mo is vital if we are to remain challenging for honours, both domestically and in Europe,” he stated.

Liverpool are also reportedly attempting to tie down other key players to longer deals. Club captain Virgil van Dijk is in talks with the club. There is speculation, however, that vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold could be on his way to Real Madrid, which would signal a time of transition for the club.

Salah’s choice to stay is a tremendous boost to Liverpool’s ambitions as they seek to solidify their supremacy at home and launch a strong challenge in European competitions in the seasons to come.

By having their talisman committed until 2027, the Reds are clearly constructing for stability and long-term prosperity.
