UNILAG Alumni Association to Honour Folashade Okoya, Others at 55th Anniversary Dinner

Managing Director of Eleganza Industrial City Limited, Mrs. Folashade Okoya, has been named among the recipients of the University of Lagos Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
The honour will be presented during the association’s 55th Anniversary Awards and Recognition Dinner scheduled for Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to the organisers, the ceremony will celebrate exceptional graduates of the university who have distinguished themselves in governance, academia, business, and other sectors while exemplifying the values of their alma mater.
Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, while medical doctor and Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland, Olor’ogun Sonny Kuku, will chair the event. The President of the UNILAG Alumni Association Worldwide, Ifeoluwa Ayodele, will host the gathering.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Okoya described the award as “a great honour” and “a reminder of the institution’s lasting impact” on her personal and professional journey.
“I am grateful for being recognised and conferred with this award by my alma mater. This would not have been possible without the inspiration I have received from my husband, Chief Rasaq Okoya, who has always encouraged and molded me. Everyone needs such a mentor in life, and I am lucky to have found mine,” she said.
A statement shared with the press noted that Okoya, a graduate of Sociology from the University of Lagos, also holds a Diploma in Banking and Finance from the Lagos State Polytechnic.
She currently oversees operations at Eleganza Industrial City, a major manufacturing hub that produces household and fast-moving consumer goods and employs over 3,000 workers.
Other eminent Nigerians to be honoured include the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun; Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; former Attorney General of the Federation, Bayo Ojo (SAN); and Chairman of Channels Media Group, John Momoh.
Also listed for recognition are Kola Adesina, Group Managing Director of Sahara Group; Tunde Fanimokun, Life Director of Folawiyo Group; Chief Kessington Adebutu, Chairman of Premier Lotto; and Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University of Lagos Governing Council.
