Ohanaeze Youths to Tinubu: Revoke Reno Omokri’s Ambassadorial Nomination

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately revoke the ambassadorial nomination of Reno Omokri, citing his past derogatory remarks against the president and divisive tirades.

The group has raised concerns about the integrity of the vetting process and warned that Omokri’s appointment could severely damage the administration’s reputation.

In their statement, the OYC highlighted numerous instances where Omokri had allegedly made disparaging comments about President Tinubu, questioning his character and leadership.

They argued that these past statements demonstrate a fundamental lack of respect and suitability for a position requiring diplomatic representation.

“We are deeply troubled by the nomination of Reno Omokri. His history of making offensive and disrespectful comments about President Tinubu raises serious questions about his ability to represent Nigeria with dignity and professionalism. Such an appointment undermines the credibility of our government and sends a negative message to the international community,” OYC said.

The youth council further demanded a thorough investigation into the vetting process that led to Omokri’s nomination. They expressed concern that crucial information regarding his past conduct might have been overlooked or disregarded.

“We urge President Tinubu to reconsider this nomination and prioritize individuals with proven integrity and a commitment to national unity.

“The integrity of our nation’s representation is paramount, and we cannot afford to compromise it,” they further contended.

The OYC also called for public scrutiny of Omokri’s past claims and urged the government to address the concerns raised by various stakeholders. The group emphasized that the appointment of an individual with a history of controversial statements could erode public trust and create unnecessary diplomatic tensions.
