Akume Convenes Council of State, Police Council Meeting on National Security

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has summoned members of the Council of State and the Police Council to a strategic meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025.
According to a statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, the session—convened at the instance of the SGF—will deliberate on key national and security matters.
Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Dr. Emanso Okop Umobong, said the meetings would focus on issues affecting national security, policing, and other pressing matters of governance.
The statement outlined the schedule as follows: the Council of State meeting will hold at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Police Council meeting at 2:00 p.m., both in the Council Chambers of the Aso Villa, Abuja.
Members are expected to participate either physically or virtually.
The SGF said the engagement reflects President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening national security architecture and promoting effective governance through regular consultation with key advisory bodies.
