Reno Omokri Says “The Best Gift a Wife Can Give Her Husband Is Her Virginity”

Media personality and social commentator, Reno Omokri, has sparked a wave of reactions on social media after stating that the greatest gift a woman can offer her husband is her virginity.

Omokri, known for his often controversial takes on relationships and morality, made the comment in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.

He argued that a woman’s virginity represents purity, discipline, and respect for both herself and her future spouse.

“The best gift a wife can give her husband is her virginity,” Omokri wrote. “It shows that she valued herself enough to wait and respected her husband enough to keep herself exclusively for him.”

His statement has since drawn widespread debate, with many users criticizing the remark as outdated and sexist, while others defended it as an affirmation of traditional values.

Critics argue that a woman’s worth or marital value should not be defined by her sexual history, emphasizing that mutual love, respect, and loyalty are more meaningful indicators of a successful marriage.

Supporters of Omokri’s view, however, praised his stance, saying it reinforces the importance of chastity, self-control, and moral upbringing in modern society.

Omokri, a former presidential aide and author, has long been known for his conservative views on relationships, religion, and social conduct.

Despite the backlash, he maintained that his message was not meant to shame women but to encourage moral discipline among young people.

The debate continues to trend across Nigerian social media platforms, with many describing it as another example of the generational divide between traditional and modern views on relationships.
