Islamic Group Holds Conference on Mosque Etiquette, Conflict Resolution

The Daarus-Sa’aadah Islamic Centre recently hosted its second annual Imams’ conference in Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State, focusing on the expanded roles of Imams and the effective use of mosques to build better societies.

The conference, themed “The Mosque, the Imam and Da’wah,” gathered renowned Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, and Ulamas.

The founder and sponsor of the event, Alhaja Rahmat Mojisola Salih, shared her personal journey into philanthropy.

The Lagos-based business mogul revealed that she was motivated by her grandmother to use her wealth to promote Islam and improve human welfare.

She recalled how, even as a primary school pupil, her grandmother advised her to dedicate a portion of her daily earnings from hawking to the mosque for cleaning and maintenance.

Alhaja Salih explained that her philanthropic work is directed by Allah and is intended to “encourage many others, near and far, to emulate it so as to ensure safer communities and dedicated leaders.”

The conference featured specialized lectures aimed at enhancing Islamic practice and community cohesion. Shaikh Dhikrullaah Shafi’i presented a paper on “The Role of the Mosque in Building the Ideal Muslim,” while Dr Sirajudeen Bila Al-Asra spoke on “Da’wah Without Bitterness: Etiquette of Disagreement in Islam,” which addressed conflict resolution within the faith.

Shaykh Aliyu Taofeek Atoloye, the Chief Imam of Ajase-Ipo and Chairman of the conference, noted the significant impact the program had on attendees.

He highlighted that this

year’s theme provided scholars with the opportunity to learn how to utilize mosques for purposes beyond prayer assembly, encouraging valuable networking among participants.

The Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Muhammed Yahya Atoloye, also delivered a goodwill message, calling for greater participation and urging the organizers to extend the yearly, one-day program to three days, citing the immense spiritual and social benefits.

Certificates were presented to all attendees at the conclusion of the event.
