Security Forces Escalate ‘Operation Restore Peace’ in Benue

Security forces in Benue State have intensified their joint efforts under Operation Restore Peace, with a current focus on the volatile Sankara axis.
Aerial surveillance conducted on September 26 reportedly identified heavily armed bandits near the Takum boundary between Benue and Taraba States. Sources indicate that a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airborne strike is being planned for the area to engage the criminals.
In a separate development, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) held a security stakeholders’ meeting at the Katsina-Ala Area Command.
During the meeting, the Benue State Government pledged financial support for the burial of personnel who were killed during an operation on September 19.
According to sources, the state government is offering N500,000 each toward the burial expenses. Furthermore, the chairmen of the three Sankara local government areas committed to providing additional assistance, including crucial intelligence to support the ongoing security operations.
Security agencies present at the meeting collectively reaffirmed their commitment to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of communities throughout the state.
