Zamfara Begins Enrollment of 28,800 LG Workers in Contributory Health Scheme

The Zamfara State Government has launched the registration of more than 28,800 local government workers into its Contributory Healthcare Scheme.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, made this known while overseeing the registration exercise in Tsafe Local Government Area. She commended the Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (ZAMCHEMA) for coordinating the statewide exercise across all 14 local government areas.
According to her, the programme is designed to ensure that local government employees, staff of the Agency for Mass Education, and personnel of Local Education Authorities have access to affordable and quality healthcare.
Dr. Maradun assured that all eligible staff would be captured under the scheme before the end of September 2025. She added that the initiative is in line with Governor Dauda Lawal’s declaration of a state of emergency in the health sector.
The commissioner also acknowledged the support of local government chairmen in making the process seamless and praised Governor Lawal for his dedication to improving healthcare services through his Rescue Mission Agenda.
She encouraged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the scheme, stressing that it would greatly enhance the health and well-being of workers and their families.
