PDP National Convention: Committee Announces Indefinite Extension for Submission of Forms
The National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced an indefinite extension for the submission of expression of interest and nomination forms by aspirants ahead of the party’s national convention.
The decision was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the Secretary of the Publicity Sub-Committee, Debo Ologunagba. He explained that the deadline, which was initially set for Friday, September 26, has now been suspended until further notice.
According to the committee, the extension is aimed at ensuring inclusivity and providing a fair opportunity for all party members interested in vying for various elective positions.
“The NCOC, after due consideration, has decided to extend indefinitely the deadline for the submission of forms to allow aspirants ample time to complete all necessary processes,” the statement read.
Party stakeholders say the move underscores the PDP’s commitment to internal democracy and a level playing field for contestants as it prepares for what is expected to be a keenly contested convention.
The national convention, scheduled to hold later this year in Abuja, is expected to produce a new set of national officers that will pilot the affairs of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While the new deadline is yet to be fixed, the committee urged aspirants and party members to remain guided and await further directives.
