Rivers State Governor Reflects on Lessons Learned During Emergency Rule

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called on residents to reflect on the lessons learned during the recent six-month emergency rule imposed by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statewide broadcast, Fubara emphasized the importance of unity, patience, and dialogue in maintaining peace and stability.

The emergency rule, declared on March 18, 2025, was aimed at resolving a protracted political crisis in the state. Fubara’s administration cooperated fully with federal authorities, prioritizing peace and progress over potential disputes.

Fubara highlighted the value of unity and patience in navigating challenging situations and stressed the need for dialogue in resolving conflicts and promoting inclusiveness.

He also called on political leaders and citizens to seize the moment as a fresh beginning, focusing on rebuilding trust and securing a peaceful and prosperous state.

The governor emphasized that peace is essential for progress, noting that “the costliest peace is cheaper than the cheapest war.”

Fubara’s message comes after President Tinubu lifted the state of emergency on September 17, 2025, allowing him to resume his duties as governor.

Fubara’s call for unity and cooperation aims to promote stability and progress in Rivers State. By prioritizing peace and dialogue, the governor hopes to rebuild trust and secure a brighter future for the state’s residents.
