INEC Opens Portal for Recruitment of Ad-Hoc Staff for 2025 Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the recruitment process for ad-hoc personnel ahead of the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, scheduled to take place on November 8, 2025.

According to an announcement posted on INEC’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the online application portal will be open from Monday, September 15, and will close on October 5, 2025.

The recruitment exercise targets several categories of temporary election officials, including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Technicians (RATECHs), and Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers.

Eligibility requirements vary by role. Prospective applicants for SPO positions must be employed within federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and meet certain grade level criteria.

Those applying as POs and APOs should either be serving or recently discharged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), staff of INEC, or students enrolled in federal tertiary institutions.

RATECH roles are exclusively reserved for eligible ICT personnel within the commission, both at the state and national levels, who are not otherwise engaged in the electoral process.

Meanwhile, RAC Managers are expected to be drawn primarily from leadership or senior staff within host institutions such as schools or community centers.

Importantly, only individuals residing in Anambra or its neighboring states—Delta, Enugu, and Imo—are considered eligible to apply, with the exception of RATECH applicants.

All candidates must remain politically neutral, with no affiliations to or public support for any political party or candidate.

INEC emphasized that interested individuals can apply either through its official web portal or by downloading the designated Android application. The commission advised all applicants to thoroughly review the outlined eligibility requirements before submitting their applications.

This recruitment initiative marks a significant step in INEC’s preparations for the forthcoming off-cycle election in Anambra, aimed at ensuring a smooth, transparent, and credible electoral process.
