Nigerian Celebrity Chef Hilda Baci Sets New Guinness World Record for Largest Serving of Jollof Rice

Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has once again made Nigeria proud by setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing an impressive 8,780 kilograms. This monumental feat was achieved in partnership with food brand Gino at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, on September 12, 2025.

The record-breaking event drew a massive crowd of supporters, celebrities, and food enthusiasts who gathered to witness history being made.

Notable attendees included Nollywood actress Funke Akindele, who joined Baci on stage to stir the tomato base, and the First Lady of Ogun State, Bamidele Abiodun.

According to Baci, the massive dish was cooked using 200 bags of rice, which translated to 4,000 kilograms of jollof rice – enough to feed 20,000 people. The custom-made pot used for the challenge had a 22,619-liter capacity, and Baci’s target was to fill it up to 80% capacity.

The Guinness World Records officially confirmed Baci’s achievement on September 15, 2025, posting on social media, “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria”.

This record solidifies Baci’s position as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated chefs and cultural ambassadors. Her dedication to promoting African cuisine on the global stage has earned her widespread recognition.
