Enyimba Top Table After Away Victory Over Bayelsa United

Enyimba International Football Club of Aba have climbed to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League table after a hard-fought 2-0 away win over Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, on Sunday.

The People’s Elephant, who endured a disappointing 2024/25 campaign by their lofty standards, underlined their title ambitions with two late goals.

After a cagey first half, Chidera Michael broke the deadlock in the 78th minute, before Kalu Nweke struck five minutes later to secure the points for Stanley Eguma’s side.

The victory extended Enyimba’s unbeaten start to the season, leaving them with eight points from four matches, two wins and two draws, enough to move them to the summit of the standings.

Enyimba will next welcome Bendel Insurance to the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on September 21, while Bayelsa United look to bounce back against Nasarawa United in their next home fixture.

The result marks a significant statement of intent from the two-time CAF Champions League winners, who appear determined to restore their dominance in the NPFL.
