Veteran Nollywood Actress, Peju Ogunmola Loses Only Child

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Ayomikun Shina, the only son of veteran Nollywood actress Peju Ogunmola and comedian Sunday Omobolanle, popularly known as Papi Luwe. According to multiple reports, the 24-year-old tragically passed away after a domestic accident. He was said to have slipped in the bathroom while he was alone abroad, an incident that proved fatal. The untimely death occurred only weeks after he had successfully completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, making the loss particularly devastating for his family. The sad news was confirmed by industry colleagues, including actor Odunlade Adekola, who described the development as shocking and heartbreaking. Film producer Seun Oloketuyi, founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, also took to social media to announce the incident, expressing deep sympathy for the grieving family. Condolences have since poured in from across the Nollywood community. Actress Biola Adebayo confirmed that the deceased was Ogunmola’s only child, posting a tribute alongside a candle emoji. Prominent actors such as Femi Adebayo, Faithia Williams, Ibrahim Yekini (Itele D Icon), Muyiwa Ademola, and several others have sent their condolences, describing the loss as an irreplaceable tragedy. Sources close to the family disclosed that Peju Ogunmola was on a movie set when the devastating news reached her, leaving her “completely shattered.” Friends and colleagues have rallied around her, offering comfort and support during this difficult period. Ayomikun was remembered as a vibrant young man with a budding interest in music and the creative arts. Those who knew him described him as humble, promising, and a source of pride to his parents. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced by the family, who have requested privacy as they mourn their son.. The Nollywood industry, which has suffered a series of losses in recent years, is once again united in grief as tributes continue to pour in for the late Ayomikun Shina.
