BBNaija Star Phyna Deactivates Instagram Account After Sister’s Death

Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, has deactivated her Instagram account following the tragic death of her younger sister, Ruth Otabor.

Ruth passed away on August 31, 2025, after a road accident involving a Dangote truck near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. The incident occurred on August 13, 2025, just six days after Ruth graduated from the polytechnic, and left her with severe injuries that led to the amputation of one of her legs.

The Dangote Group had reportedly covered Ruth’s medical expenses and arranged for her to receive advanced treatment in India. However, despite these efforts, Ruth succumbed to her injuries.

Phyna’s sister was remembered as a promising young woman whose life was cut short in a tragic accident. The family has requested privacy as they mourn their loss, and funeral arrangements will be announced later.

The Dangote Group extended condolences to the Otabor family, reaffirming its commitment to safety and accountability in its operations.
