Badagry-West Council Warns Against Illegal Mining

The Chairman of Badagry-West Local Council Development Area, Rauf Yemaren, has cautioned against illegal mining activities in Falola community and other parts of the council’s coastal belt.

In a statement, Yemaren warned individuals, groups, and companies engaged in unlawful mining to stop immediately, describing their actions as harmful and environmentally destructive.

The council has received reports of ongoing illegal mining in the area and has vowed to take action against those found culpable.

Yemaren assured residents that the council will work with security agencies, environmental regulators, and the Lagos State Government to crack down on offenders.

“Illegal mining is an assault on our environment and our people, and it will not be tolerated,” Yemaren said, warning that anyone found guilty will be arrested, prosecuted, and have their equipment seized.

The council is committed to protecting the environment and residents of Badagry West from the dangers of illegal mining.
