Tinubu Urges Nigerians Abroad to Return Home and Invest, Declares Nigeria Is Rising Again

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians living abroad to return home and contribute to the country’s economic revival, assuring them that Nigeria is on the path of growth and stability.

Speaking in Yokohama, Japan, during an interactive session with the Nigerian community on the sidelines of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), the president declared that the time had come for the Diaspora to channel their resources, knowledge, and expertise into building their homeland.

Tinubu emphasized that “Nigeria is rising again” and warned that if citizens abroad continue to stay away, the task of nation-building would be left incomplete.

He highlighted the reforms introduced by his administration, including exchange rate stabilization, increased crude oil production, and support for local manufacturing, which he said are beginning to yield positive results.

The president further assured Nigerians that his government is investing in healthcare, improving consular and passport services, and creating an environment conducive for investment and innovation.

He reminded the Diaspora that their contribution must extend beyond remittances, urging them to consider long-term investments in key sectors such as technology, agriculture, healthcare, and education. According to Tinubu, initiatives like the Diaspora Presidential Fellowship Programme and the Home and Abroad digital platform have been created to strengthen collaboration between professionals abroad and development efforts at home.

While acknowledging persistent challenges such as inflation, insecurity, and unemployment, the president maintained that Nigeria’s economic trajectory is improving and called for collective responsibility in sustaining progress.

He urged Nigerians abroad to serve as good ambassadors of their country while preparing to return home and actively participate in its transformation, insisting that true national progress can only be achieved when all citizens, both at home and abroad, work together.
