Don’t Ignore Audit Queries, Osun Govt Warns Accounting Officers

Osun State Government has warned accounting officers and Permanent Secretaries against ignoring audit queries.
State Auditor-General, Kolapo Idris emphasized the importance of prompt responses to audit queries, stating that disregard for audit queries would no longer be tolerated.
Idris made this known while presenting the report of the financial statements and accounts of Osun State Government for the year 2024.
He urged accounting officers to respond promptly to audit queries, noting that failure to do so would lead to unnecessary delays.
The State’s Head of Service, Mr. Samuel Aina, represented by Permanent Secretary Najeem Akintola, also stressed the need for adherence to standard practices in responding to audit queries.
This development aims to ensure transparency and accountability in government business.
In a related matter, Osun State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Abimbola Fasasi, has called on the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation to release seized monthly allocations to local government areas in the state.
Fasasi argued that the non-release of funds is negatively impacting rural dwellers and that there is no basis for the seizure.
