Gov Okpebholo Names Ovia APC Campaign DG, Others as Commissioner Nominees

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has unveiled a fresh list of commissioner nominees as he moves to consolidate his administration and strengthen governance across the state.
Among the nominees is Charity Amayaenvbo, the Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council in the recently concluded Ovia Federal Constituency by-election.
Amayaenvbo’s inclusion is seen as a reward for his role in mobilizing support and delivering victory for the party in the constituency.
Other nominees announced by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Musa Ikhilor, include Hon. Vincent Uwadiae, Hon. Etin-osa Ogbewei, Hon. Saturday Uwuilekhue, and Professor Roland Otaru (SAN), a respected legal luminary.
The list has already been transmitted to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, in line with constitutional provisions.
Political observers say the nominations reflect Governor Okpebholo’s effort to balance political considerations with technocratic competence, bringing on board individuals with both grassroots influence and professional expertise.
Amayaenvbo’s nomination, in particular, underscores the governor’s strategy of rewarding loyalty and strengthening the APC’s political base ahead of the 2024 governorship election. Similarly, the nomination of Professor Otaru (SAN) signals the administration’s intention to leverage legal and academic expertise in governance.
Governor Okpebholo, who has repeatedly emphasized inclusivity and performance in his appointments, is expected to release additional names in the coming weeks as part of his effort to form a broad-based cabinet.
If confirmed by the Assembly, the nominees will join the state executive council to drive the governor’s policy agenda and accelerate development programmes across Edo State.
