President Tinubu Lands in Tokyo for TICAD9 Conference

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Tokyo, Japan, ahead of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9).
He was warmly received by Japan’s Ambassador in charge of TICAD, Ambassador Hideo Matsubara, at Haneda Airport.
The conference, scheduled from August 20 to 22 in Yokohama, focuses on Africa’s economic transformation, improving business environments, and promoting sustainable societies.
During the conference, President Tinubu will participate in plenary sessions, hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, and engage with top executives of Japanese companies invested in Nigeria.
The visit aims to strengthen economic cooperation between Nigeria and Japan, exploring opportunities for collaboration in areas like infrastructure development and human capital growth.
Tinubu’s engagement with Japanese business leaders will also foster relationships between Nigerian and Japanese companies, promoting trade and investment.
After participating in TICAD9, President Tinubu will embark on a two-day state visit to Brazil, at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, from August 24 to 25.
During this visit, he will hold talks with President Lula to discuss areas of mutual interest, engage with Brazilian investors to promote trade and investment opportunities, and explore possibilities for signing agreements and Memoranda of Understanding with the Brazilian government.
A delegation of key ministers and senior officials will accompany President Tinubu to both Japan and Brazil, seeking to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the two countries.
