APC National Chairman, Yilwatda, Loses Mother at 83

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has been thrown into mourning following the passing of his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.
Mama Lydia died in the early hours of Sunday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH). She was aged 83.
Confirming the development in a statement issued in Jos, the Plateau State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Shittu Bamaiyi, described the deceased as a devout Christian, a virtuous woman, and a committed leader in the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).
Bamaiyi noted that Mama Lydia was not only a pillar of her family but also a strong community leader whose life of service, faith, and humility left a lasting impact on all who came across her.
“The party in Plateau State received with shock the news of the death of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of our National Chairman.
She was a woman of uncommon virtue, a devoted Christian, and a pillar in the household of faith. Her demise is a great loss, not only to the family but also to the church and the society she diligently served,” the statement read in part.
Family sources disclosed that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Mama Lydia is survived by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including Prof.
Yilwatda, who recently assumed office as APC’s National Chairman.
Her passing comes as a moment of grief for the ruling party, with sympathies expected to pour in from political associates, leaders across the country, and the wider Christian community.
