Kirikiri Customs Command Records N89.2bn Revenue in Six Months, Intercepts Expired Drugs

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it generated N89.2 billion in revenue between January and June 2025.
Customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Eghosa Edelduok, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, noting that the figure marks a 63 per cent increase compared to the N54.8 billion collected in the same period of 2024.
According to Edelduok, the rise in revenue reflects the command’s enhanced operational efficiency, improved compliance levels, and the impact of targeted reforms and enforcement strategies.
“The difference of N34.4 billion represents a 63 per cent growth, which demonstrates the command’s commitment to strengthening compliance and improving overall operational outcomes,” she said.
The controller explained that the growth was achieved through focused reforms, practical strategies to boost compliance, and sustained enforcement activities.
On anti-smuggling operations, Edelduok reported that the enforcement team intercepted two 40-foot containers filled with expired pharmaceutical products, with a duty paid value of N130 million.
She said the items contravened the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and other import regulations, adding that they had been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action.
“The command is committed to applying the law without compromise to protect public health and uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and professionalism in all aspects of its operations,” she stressed.
Edelduok reaffirmed the command’s commitment to stakeholder engagement, inter-agency collaboration, and compliance-driven trade facilitation. She also expressed appreciation to partner agencies and stakeholders for their continued support, describing their contributions as crucial to the effective delivery of the command’s mandate.
She emphasized that the KLT Command remained dedicated to the diligent discharge of its statutory responsibilities in line with national security, economic growth, and service excellence.
