Bandits Kill Three in Fresh Benue Attack

Three people have been killed in a fresh attack by suspected bandits on Tse Gaagum village in Ukemberegya Council Ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, threw the rural community into mourning as residents fled to nearby villages for safety. Witnesses said the attackers stormed the village around 9pm, shooting sporadically and setting several houses ablaze.
Chairman of Logo LGA, Salome Tor, confirmed the killings on Wednesday, describing the attack as “unprovoked” and calling for urgent security intervention.
She said the victims were identified as locals who had no prior dispute with the assailants.
The state police spokesperson, Catherine Anene, also confirmed the incident, adding that security operatives had been deployed to the area to forestall further violence.
Logo, along with other parts of Benue’s north-western belt, has witnessed repeated raids in recent years, often blamed on armed herders and bandits targeting farming communities.
The attacks have disrupted farming activities, worsened food insecurity, and forced thousands into internally displaced persons’ camps.
No group has claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s attack, and police say investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
