RCCG Pastor Adeboye Seeks ₦1 Billion Donations from Congregation

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has called on his congregation to make substantial donations to support the church’s projects.

During the RCCG’s 73rd annual convention, Adeboye requested that at least 10 members donate ₦1 billion each and 100 members contribute ₦100 million each to fund expansions, including new dormitories, altar renovations, and upgrades to the water and power systems.

The funds, according to Adeboye, are crucial for completing projects before December, citing the choir’s altar as an example, which was initially designed for 10,000 people but now needs expansion due to increased attendance.

This request has sparked mixed reactions, with some criticizing the amount requested while others support the cause.

Some Nigerians have taken to social media to express their views, with one user questioning why a few individuals would donate such large sums in a poverty-stricken country.

Another user noted that Nigeria, being the most religious country in the world, still struggles with poverty. However, a Muslim man has defended Pastor Adeboye’s request, stating that donating to the cause of God is a virtuous act and wondering why people are criticizing the pastor.

This request comes shortly after Pastor Adeboye predicted the exact day he would pass away, stating he would die on a Sunday after attending a church service and eating his favorite meal, pounded yams.
