Breaking News: Former Rivers Head of Service Indicts Fubara, Says He Ordered Burning of Assembly, Directed Militants to Break Pipelines

Former Rivers State Head of Service, George Nweke, has accused suspended Governor Sim Fubara of orchestrating the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex as well as directed Militants to destroy pipelines.

However, his wife in a separate video which is trending wailed and lamented that her husband has been coerced into making such statements, adding that he had been kidnapped and held hostage.

The allegations, made just days after Nweke’s resignation, has sent shockwaves through the state’s political landscape, escalating the already tense situation.

Nweke, who served under Governor Fubara, made the explosive accusations in a statement released to the press. He claimed to possess evidence implicating the suspended governor in the arson incident, which occurred amidst a period of intense political turmoil within the state.

“I have come to the conclusion that I can no longer remain silent in the face of such egregious acts,” Nweke stated. “The burning of the House of Assembly complex was a deliberate and calculated act, and I have evidence that points directly to Governor Fubara.”

The allegations come at a particularly sensitive time, with the political climate in Rivers State already highly charged due to ongoing disputes between the governor and members of the state assembly. The burning of the complex had previously been attributed to various factors, including political sabotage, but Nweke’s direct accusation has added a new dimension to the investigation.

Governor Fubara has denied the allegations pointing out that as a civil servant would not have been privy to political and security discussions, adding that he was acting the script of his detractors.

The incident has drawn strong reactions from various political figures and civil society organizations in the state, with calls for a thorough and impartial investigation into the allegations. Many are demanding that Nweke present his evidence to law enforcement agencies for further scrutiny.

The timing of Nweke’s resignation and subsequent accusations has raised eyebrows, with speculation rife about the underlying reasons for his sudden departure from office.
