Lifestyle: What You Need to Know About Maintaining Good Blood Health

A recent lifestyle feature aired on Channels TV has shed light on practical and sustainable ways to maintain good blood health, a critical aspect of overall wellbeing. Experts in the programme stressed that keeping the blood in optimal condition goes beyond medical check-ups and medications it requires daily lifestyle choices that support healthy circulation, blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar levels.

According to health professionals, diet plays a central role in sustaining blood health. They recommended nutrient-rich eating patterns such as the Mediterranean and DASH diets, which emphasise fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, healthy fats, and antioxidant-rich foods like berries, tomatoes, pomegranate, and beetroot. These foods help improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and maintain balanced cholesterol levels. Avoiding excessive salt, limiting processed foods, and incorporating potassium-rich produce were also highlighted as essential dietary strategies.

Regular physical activity was identified as another pillar of blood health. Viewers were advised to aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise each week, complemented by strength training to boost circulation and heart function. Short walks after meals were recommended as a simple yet effective way to regulate blood sugar and improve vascular health.

The segment further underlined the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, getting seven to nine hours of quality sleep nightly, and managing stress to prevent strain on the cardiovascular system. Tobacco use and excessive alcohol consumption were strongly discouraged due to their damaging effects on blood vessels and heart function.

Experts concluded that good blood health is not achieved overnight but is the result of consistent, balanced habits. By making mindful food choices, staying active, getting adequate rest, and managing stress, individuals can protect their circulatory system and significantly lower the risk of chronic illnesses linked to poor blood quality.
