First Lady Remi Tinubu Pays Condolence Visit to Aisha Buhari in Kaduna
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, paid a condolence visit to former First Lady Aisha Buhari at her Kaduna residence on August 8, 2025. The visit came less than a month after the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari on July 13, 2025, in London.
Senator Tinubu was accompanied by a delegation of prominent women, including wives of National Assembly members, state governors, ministers, and service chiefs. The group offered prayers for the repose of the late president’s soul and commiserated with the Buhari family.
During the visit, Mrs. Tinubu described the late president as an accomplished leader who brought pride to his family, town, state, and nation. She emphasized his commitment to nation-building, public service, and the welfare of the common man.
The delegation also visited the Emir of Daura’s palace, where the First Lady paid her respects and offered condolences to the people of the emirate. The Emir, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, expressed gratitude for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support and leadership, reaffirming the emirate’s loyalty to the president.
President Tinubu had declared seven days of national mourning following Buhari’s death and directed that flags be flown at half-mast nationwide. The late president’s body was flown back to Nigeria and buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
