Babcock, EKSU to Revamp Curriculum in UK-Funded Project

Ekiti State University (EKSU) and Babcock University have been selected to participate in a British Council–funded initiative designed to reform Nigerian university curricula by embedding entrepreneurship, circular economy principles, and peacebuilding studies.
The project, spearheaded by Dr. Olushola Kolawole, a lecturer in Business Data Analytics, Circular Economy, and Entrepreneurship at the University of Bradford, UK, aims to align higher education in Nigeria with global priorities for sustainability, innovation, and social stability.
At a recent workshop in Lagos themed “Curriculum Development on Entrepreneurship, Circular Economy and Peace Building in Nigeria,” scholars, curriculum experts, and stakeholders deliberated on strategies to integrate contemporary concepts into academic programmes.
“We must equip the next generation with the knowledge and tools to build resilient economies, promote peace, and champion sustainable development. This project is a significant step toward that future,” Kolawole stated.
Under the programme, EKSU and Babcock University will receive academic resources, including textbooks, to support teaching and research in the new thematic areas.
The initiative is expected to promote interdisciplinary learning, sustainable business practices, and a culture of peace among students.
Kolawole’s academic team includes Prof. Kenneth Omeje of the International University, UK; Dr. Joseph Danquah of the University of Bradford; Prof. Taiwo Owoeye of EKSU; and Prof. Adesoga Adefulu of Babcock University.
A forthcoming textbook co-edited by Kolawole and Omeje, featuring African scholars’ contributions and Nigeria-focused case studies, will further support the initiative’s goals.
