APC Alleges El-Rufai Endangering National Cohesion by Positioning Atiku as ADC Presidential Candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, of intentions to position former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential nominee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a maneuver perceived to endanger national cohesion.

The APC contends that El-Rufai, alongside his associates, is orchestrating an effort to disrupt Nigeria’s established power rotation convention by advocating for Atiku, a Northerner, as a contender in the 2027 elections, notwithstanding the current presidency’s Southern tenure.

In a declaration issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party denounced El-Rufai’s recent remarks in Sokoto, where he purportedly characterized the Tinubu administration as “incompetent and clannish.” The APC dismissed these critiques as unfounded and politically driven.

Morka asserted that El-Rufai and Atiku, through their alleged commandeering of the ADC, “propose no substantial policy alternatives” and depend solely on “headline assaults” to undermine the government.

He further remarked: “El-Rufai and Atiku aim to inflict upon Nigeria what Atiku wrought upon the PDP. The El-Rufai and Atiku commandeering of the ADC poses an immediate and significant threat to Nigeria’s unity, peace, and progress.”

The APC also reminded Nigerians of Atiku’s previous promise to serve only a single four-year term if elected president, raising apprehensions that his renewed aspiration might betray his own public pledge and erode voter trust.
