Gov Buni Urges New Emir of Gudi to Promote Peace, Unity, Development

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has urged the newly appointed Emir of Gudi, Alhaji Ismaila Ahmed Gadaka, to prioritize peace, unity, and the progress of his domain. The governor made the call during the formal presentation of the appointment letter to the new emir at the palace in Gudi. Represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Professor Muhammad Bello Kawuwa, Governor Buni described traditional institutions as strategic partners in governance. He said the new emir must leverage his experience and community ties to foster harmony, mediate conflicts, and support the state government’s developmental agenda. The governor expressed confidence in Gadaka’s ability to uphold the values of justice and inclusion, adding that peaceful coexistence among residents of different backgrounds remains essential to sustainable development. In his response, Alhaji Ismaila Ahmed Gadaka pledged to lead with sincerity and uphold the cultural and moral values of the emirate. He called on all stakeholders in Gudi to unite in pursuit of peace and meaningful development, assuring them of a reign focused on fairness and collective progress. Alhaji Gadaka, a former member of the House of Representatives, represented Fika/Fune Federal Constituency between 2011 and 2019. He previously served as Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Yobe State from 2007 to 2010 and also had a successful banking career before transitioning into politics. Until his appointment, he held the traditional title of Yariman Gudi and chaired the governing council of the Federal College of Education, Yawuri, in Kebbi State. He also led the Yobe State Local Government Project Monitoring and Evaluation Committee. His appointment follows the death of the former Emir of Gudi, Alhaji Isa Bunuwa-Madugu Ibn Kaji, who died recently in Abuja and was buried in Gadaka according to Islamic rites. The late emir was widely respected for his leadership and commitment to the development of the emirate. The presentation ceremony drew traditional rulers, political figures, and community leaders who expressed optimism about the emirate’s future under Gadaka’s leadership.
