Zoning War Heats Up in Anambra as Aspirants Face Fiery Rebuke
A leading political voice from Anambra South has launched a blistering critique against individuals contesting the forthcoming elections, accusing them of undermining the state’s established zoning system and insulting the intelligence of the electorate.
In a fiery statement, the speaker who referred to himself as the “headman of Anambra” condemned unemployed aspirants from the zone who he claims are “desperate” and “clueless” about governance.
“How can anybody, anybody with brain, come and say ‘I’ll only serve one term’?
That person should be sent to a psychiatric home,” he fumed. “When the Constitution permits a maximum of eight years, why offer only four unless you’re trying to deceive the people?”
He alleged that some candidates lacked basic educational qualifications and had no meaningful ties to Anambra, yet were trying to “auction sweet promises” to the public.
“Anambra has no place for sweet auctions or empty rhetoric. We have advanced,” he declared. “Some of these people don’t even have schools they attended. Question them!”
He warned that Anambra would not regress to accommodate individuals pushing selfish interests, adding: “This is not a Catholic examination. This is leadership. And Anambra will not be ruled by people with city ways and no roots.”
The statement comes amid growing tension over political zoning and succession planning in the state, with the race to succeed Governor Charles Soludo gaining momentum ahead of the 2025 election cycle.
