Charly Boy Dismisses Importance of Bus Stop Renaming Amidst Election Concerns

He emphasized that recognition should be bestowed upon anyone who has made a significant contribution to the community.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, he reiterated that acknowledgment should be given to those who have meaningfully contributed to the community.

The prominent bus stop was recently rechristened as Olamide Baddo Bus Stop, in honor of the music icon Olamide, by the Bariga Local Council Development Area.

“My sister, if you ask me, who should I ask? I am unsure why they make such decisions, as they seem rather trivial. Far too trivial, considering these are not the matters we should be focusing on at the moment.

“These are not priorities. Whether it is named Charly Boy or Olamide Baddo, or anything else, it is inconsequential.

“It holds no significance. Anyone who has contributed to their community deserves the spotlight. It truly doesn’t concern me,” he stated.

He clarified that the bus stop was originally named after him due to his enduring connection with the Gbagada area.

“There was a time I resided near the bus stop, and that is why those in Gbagada at that time thought it fitting to name a bus stop after me. I genuinely contributed to that community. Be it the military pensioners, the Okada riders, the youth, and everyone. I provided scholarships to young people.

“I recall the bus stop was named after me following the release of my song in 1990. So, it was around 1991-1992,” he remarked.

Rather than being concerned about the renaming, the entertainer urged Nigerians to focus on the political future of the nation, especially as the 2027 general elections approach.

He cautioned against endorsing leaders who prioritize personal ambitions over addressing national issues.

“The 2027 general election is what should concern us. Let’s address the pressing issue of the 2027 election, what will it be like? Will our votes matter?” he inquired.

The entertainer underscored the necessity for a leader who is honest, people-oriented, and committed to helping the country achieve self-sufficiency.

“One who is truthful, one who genuinely demonstrates concern for the welfare of the people. One who is willing to do all that is necessary for us to be self-sufficient, to be self-productive, rather than merely consumers. One who possesses human empathy, one who is not excessively religious,” he elaborated.
