Kebbi Governor Confirms Soldier Deaths in Danko-Wasagu, Hails Military’s Resolve

 

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has confirmed the loss of some Nigerian soldiers in the ongoing military operation against banditry in the troubled Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of the state.

 

Speaking at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi during an official inspection of newly deployed Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), Governor Idris acknowledged the sacrifice of the fallen soldiers, describing their deaths as a painful but courageous contribution to restoring peace and stability in the region.

 

Although the governor did not disclose the exact number of casualties, he assured the families of the deceased that his administration would not abandon them.

 

He emphasized Kebbi State’s unwavering support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and pledged continued collaboration in the fight against insecurity.

 

“We are proud of our soldiers. They died heroes, and we will ensure their families are not left behind,” the governor stated.

 

During the inspection, the Commanding Officer of the 223 Light Tank Battalion, Zuru, Lt. Colonel Muhammad Saleh, officially presented the APCs to the governor and commended the Kebbi State Government for its consistent backing of military operations in the area. He noted that the new equipment would greatly enhance their response capabilities against criminal elements terrorizing rural communities.

 

Governor Idris also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the heads of other security agencies for their commitment to tackling the nation’s security challenges, particularly in vulnerable areas like Kebbi.

 

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at securing lives and property, stating that security remains a top priority for the state.
