2027: ADC Is Vehicle for Northern Unity, Progress, Says David Mark

The Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has declared the party as the strategic platform to achieve unity, progress, and development in Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mark made this assertion on Saturday during his opening remarks at the third expanded meeting of the National Political Consultative Group (NPCG-North), held in Abuja.

The high-level gathering was convened to intensify consultations among political stakeholders in the region, particularly following the unveiling of ADC as the political vehicle for key opposition figures preparing for the 2027 polls.

Addressing participants before the meeting moved into a closed-door session, the former Senate President stated, “The last time we met here, the popular demand was, ‘what is the vehicle to achieve the northern agenda?’ I tell you today that the vehicle to achieve northern unity, progress, and development is ADC.”

The NPCG (North), chaired by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, had at its previous meeting stressed the urgent need to adopt a political platform that would champion the North’s collective interests.

The coalition’s alignment with ADC marks a strategic shift as the region positions itself for greater political influence and cohesion in the 2027 elections.

Saturday’s meeting is expected to further solidify frameworks for political engagement, alliance building, and grassroots mobilization across Northern states under the ADC banner.
