SDP Disowns El-Rufai,.Says He is Neither Our Member Nor Can Speak for Us

The Social Democratic Party has formally renounced any association with former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, asserting that he is neither a member nor sanctioned to speak for or represent the party in any capacity.
This declaration was made by Inuwa Idris, the Zonal Secretary of the North-West Zone, during a press conference held on Friday in Kaduna.
Idris articulated, “We have become aware that Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i has presumed to represent the Social Democratic Party at various events, including policy dialogues, stakeholder meetings, and private strategic sessions, claiming to speak on our behalf.
“Let it be unequivocally stated: Malam El-Rufa’i is neither authorised, mandated, nor acknowledged by the SDP to represent its interests, elucidate its positions, or speak in its name.
“His actions have been undertaken without the knowledge, consent, or endorsement of the party’s national leadership, including our esteemed acting National Chairman, Dr. Sadiq Umar, among others.”
He underscored that El-Rufai does not appear in any of the party’s membership records, has not participated in its activities, nor has he been granted any appointment or mandate to act on the party’s behalf at any level.
Idris reaffirmed the leadership of Umar, National Secretary Chief Olu Agunloye, and the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo.
He cautioned stakeholders and the public to dismiss any statements issued by El-Rufai under the SDP banner.
Idris further stated that any future engagements, policy discussions, or collaborative initiatives involving the party must be conducted through officially endorsed representatives, whose identities will be made available upon request.
He declared, “We pass a vote of no confidence in Malam Nasiru El-Rufa’i.
“We call for the immediate suspension of Dr. Umar Ardo from the SDP, as he is now affiliated with the promotion of a new political entity, the ADC.
“Resorting to the use of the SDP platform is a desperate act and a blatant failure in political strategy.
“Let this serve as a final admonition. Cease your fraudulent activities.
“Any further impersonation will compel us to convene a special committee under the authority of the NEC to investigate these matters with the intention of disseminating information about all misdeeds across available platforms.”
