Gambian President Pays Tribute to Late Buhari

The President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, has paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, in Daura, Katsina State. During the visit, Barrow praised Buhari’s unwavering commitment to democracy, peace, and stability in West Africa and beyond.

 

Barrow described Buhari as a pillar of democracy who played a crucial role in supporting The Gambia’s democratic process. He also highlighted Buhari’s contributions to promoting peace and stability in the region through ECOWAS and the African Union.

 

The Gambian leader expressed his deepest condolences to the Buhari family and the Nigerian people, describing Buhari’s passing as a loss of a great leader who left an indelible mark on the continent.

 

Barrow’s visit was seen as a testament to the strong diplomatic ties between Nigeria and The Gambia, as well as Buhari’s enduring legacy in Africa.

 

Yusuf Buhari, the late president’s son, thanked Barrow for his visit, saying it was a demonstration of the strong historical and diplomatic relationship between the two countries. The Katsina State Government’s Secretary, Abdullahi Garba-Faskari, also appreciated Barrow’s visit, describing it as a symbol of African brotherhood.
