Oluremi Tinubu Leads Governors’ Wives on Condolence Visit to Aisha Buhari in Daura

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Friday led a delegation of governors’ wives and senior government officials to Daura, Katsina State, to pay a condolence visit to former First Lady Aisha Buhari following the death of her husband, former President Muhammadu Buhari. The late president passed away in London on July 13, 2025, and was buried on July 15 in his hometown of Daura. The First Lady's visit marked a significant moment of solidarity and national unity during a time of mourning. Accompanied by several governors’ wives, including those of Niger, Kebbi, and Borno States, Oluremi Tinubu was received by Aisha Buhari and other family members of the late president. The atmosphere was solemn as the visitors extended their sympathies and offered prayers for the repose of the former president's soul. Speaking during the visit, the First Lady described Muhammadu Buhari as a leader who served Nigeria with honesty, integrity, and deep commitment. She noted that his legacy of discipline and public service would continue to inspire future generations. She prayed for Allah to grant him eternal rest in Al-janah Firdaus and for strength and comfort for the bereaved family. In her response, Aisha Buhari expressed appreciation for the show of love and support, stating that the presence of the First Lady and other dignitaries brought her and the family great comfort. She acknowledged the overwhelming expressions of condolences from across the country and beyond, which she said had been a source of strength. The condolence visit highlighted the role of the First Lady’s office in promoting compassion and national cohesion. It also reflected a unifying moment in the country’s political landscape, bringing together figures from various backgrounds to honor the late leader. Following Buhari’s death, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a seven-day national mourning period and directed that flags be flown at half-mast across the country. The late president’s passing has continued to draw tributes from across Nigeria and the international community.
