Lekki, Ajah Bask in Improved Power as Supply Goes 60 Uninterrupted Days

Residents of Lekki-Ajah, Lagos, are celebrating a significant improvement in power supply, with over two months of uninterrupted electricity.
This development has brought relief to households and businesses alike, allowing them to ditch generators and rely on the grid for their power needs.
The seamless power supply is attributed to the recent installation of a 63 MVA-132/33 kV mobile substation at the Ajah Transmission Station.
This upgrade, part of the Nigeria-Siemens Presidential Power Initiative (PPI), aims to enhance transmission efficiency and guarantee reliable electricity nationwide.
According to reports, the mobile substation plays a vital role in facilitating quick deployment to close up the country’s power deficit. The successful installation and energization of the substation are expected to ease the age-long power crisis in Lekki-Ajah and surrounding areas.
EKEDC, the distribution company responsible for the area, has upgraded its customers to Band A, reflecting its improved capacity to deliver power consistently.
The company attributes the progress made in the last nine months to upgrades in distribution infrastructure and its increased capacity to take on more power from the grid to meet customer demand.
Residents have expressed gratitude for the improved power supply, which aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The agenda aims to improve the country’s infrastructure and provide essential services to citizens.
The improved power supply is a result of collaborative efforts between the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and EKEDC. The TCN has completed the commissioning of a 1x75MVA transformer at the Lekki Transmission Substation, increasing the substation’s capacity from 120MVA to 195MVA.
This upgrade has enhanced electricity distribution efficiency in the region, enabling EKEDC to offtake a larger volume of bulk power.
