NAF Denies 2025 Recruitment Exercise, Warns Nigerians Against Scams

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has warned the general public against widespread claims that it has commenced recruitment for the 2025/2026 Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) and the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC).

In a statement released via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, the NAF described the circulating messages as fraudulent, urging Nigerians to disregard them completely.

“The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to fraudulent messages circulating online, falsely claiming that the NAF has commenced recruitment for the 2025/2026 BMTC and DSSC,” the statement read. “The Nigerian Air Force wishes to state that no such recruitment exercise is currently ongoing.”

The Air Force emphasized that all its recruitment and enlistment processes are free, transparent, and strictly based on merit, warning against falling prey to online scams.

“The NAF does not charge any fee at any stage of its recruitment exercise, and does not engage third parties or agents for enlistment,” it added.

The military service noted that official announcements regarding recruitment will be made via credible national newspapers, the NAF’s official website, and its verified social media platforms, and not through random online posts.

In light of the growing number of scam operations targeting job seekers, the NAF urged the public to exercise extreme caution and verify information through trusted and official sources before taking any action.

“We therefore urge members of the public to be wary of online scams and exercise extreme caution when coming across unofficial recruitment advertisements,” the statement concluded. “For accurate and up-to-date information regarding the Nigerian Air Force, the public is advised to follow only the official NAF communication channels.”

This clarification comes as online fraudsters continue to exploit the desperation of job-seeking Nigerians, with fake recruitment drives that often request personal details or illegal payments under the guise of job offers in the armed forces.

The NAF reiterated its commitment to upholding integrity in its recruitment process and encouraged Nigerians to report suspicious advertisements or individuals attempting to defraud applicants.
