Kwankwaso Dismisses Peter Obi, Atiku, El Rufai and Other Political Paper Tigers.

In a turn of events, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has been attempting to boost its numbers through top-level defections. However, since the exodus began, the party has not been successful in acquiring any practicing politicians, but only retirees, leading individuals to wonder whether it has the gravitas to assume a significant role in the political landscape.

According to party sources, the SDP has been searching high and low for a real political heavyweight to join their fold. Their sights are now set on HE Engr Rabiu Kwankwasso, a seasoned politician with an established structure and a reputation for being a game-changer in politics.

Kwankwasso, a greatly respected politician within his constituency, has an enormous political platform called ‘Kwankwassiya Amana’, which is famous for its loyalty and organization. If he should jump ship to the SDP, it is widely predicted that he would be taking his Governor, Senator, Representatives, and a large portion of his supporters with him, thus giving the party the much-needed injection.

The SDP pursuit of Kwankwasso is a gamble that will either break or make the party’s fortune in future polls. With zero serving Senators, House of Representatives members, or even Councilors among their defectors, the party requires a big-name signing to provide their campaign with the badly needed momentum.

On the other hand, if the SDP fails to secure Kwankwasso’s defection, it would be a massive blow to their ambitions of making any significant dent in the polls. The party’s inability to attract high-profile defectors has already raised questions regarding their viability and attractiveness, and a failed bid for Kwankwasso’s services would only go further in diminishing their credibility.

When contacted for a reaction, a spokesperson for Kwankwasso refused to confirm or deny the rumors of a potential defection to the SDP. “We are not commenting on speculation or rumors at this time,” the spokesperson said. “Our focus remains to serve the people and deliver on our campaign promises.” He also blasted the coalition of the opposition parties for the 2027 election, calling them retired politicians.

The question on everyone’s lips, however, is whether Kwankwasso is still just a ‘local champion’ or whether he has national appeal and influence enough to make a significant difference to the party’s fortunes. While he has undoubtedly made a strong name for himself in his local constituency, it is doubtful that he can repeat this at a national level.
