‎Perform or be Sacked Aiyedatiwa Tasks New Commissioners

Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Monday charged newly inaugurated commissioners to prioritise excellence, integrity, and results in the discharge of their duties, noting that citizens’ expectations are high and nothing short of impactful governance will be accepted.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held at the International Centre for Culture and Events (The Dome), Akure, the governor said the new appointees must immediately settle into their roles and begin to deliver value across the board.

He explained that the selection process, which began in February following his assumption of office, was deliberately thorough to ensure a team aligned with the administration’s long-term vision of steady, focused governance.

Among those inaugurated are Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun (a former Rector of RUGIPO and former Vice-Chancellor of AAUA), Abiola Olawoye (Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing), Ayodele Akande, Dr. Oluwaseun Osamaye, Dr. Tob Loko, Olaolu Akindolire, Sunday Olajide, Henry Omoyofunmi, Alabi Johnson, Amidu Takuro, Adewale Akinlosotu, and Dr. Banji Ajaka.

‎Aiyedatiwa, while speaking to the appointees, restated that his administration is anchored on the principle that “slow and steady wins the race,” adding that the first 100 days of his government have already demonstrated measurable progress through deliberate planning and execution.

“The people of Ondo State expect nothing but the best from us, having entrusted us with an overwhelming mandate, and we must strive to deliver on all our electioneering promises,” he said.

‎He further urged the new commissioners to serve with patriotism and discipline, while warning their families and political associates against mounting undue pressure for favours or personal gain.

‎On security, Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, citing the recent approval of a bill prescribing stiff penalties, including capital punishment, for kidnapping and abduction crimes in the state.

‎He also assured those yet to be appointed that opportunities still exist across various platforms for citizens who are willing to serve the state diligently.

‎Responding on behalf of the new commissioners, Mr. Henry Omoyofunmi expressed appreciation to the governor for the trust reposed in them and promised that they would discharge their duties faithfully and in the best interest of the state.
