We’ve Recovered Our Party From Impostors, Says Idris, Kaduna SDP Chairman

The Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kaduna State, Adamu Idris, has announced that they have successfully reclaimed control of their party after a legal triumph which confirmed them as the legitimate executives within the state.
Addressing the media in Kaduna on Saturday on the theme “Safeguarding Democracy and Party Integrity in Kaduna State,” he reiterated the party’s steadfast dedication to upholding internal democracy and integrity. In light of this, he emphasized the necessity of informing the public about recent developments that threaten the party's unity and stability.
“As many of you know, our duly elected State Working Committee (SWC), established after the 2022 State Congress with a mandate extending until April 2026, was unconstitutionally dissolved earlier this year.
“This move was not only unjust but also a blatant breach of the party’s constitution and the rule of law. “Fortunately, the Kaduna State High Court, in Suit No. KDH/Z/280/2025, upheld justice and democratic principles by restraining the so-called Caretaker Committee and affirming the legitimacy of the elected SWC under my leadership. “This legal victory is not just a triumph for our members, but for democracy itself. We have now regained control of party structures and have resumed our rightful positions.
“However, we must express our concern regarding a growing trend of infiltration by individuals who have only recently relinquished positions of power and now seek to commandeer our platform for their own interests. “Some of these individuals, lacking any record of contribution to the SDP’s growth, now aspire to exploit our structures as a means for their political resurgence. “We wish to state, respectfully yet firmly, that the SDP in Kaduna State is not available,” he emphasized.
“We are constructing a credible, principled, and people-centered platform, not a refuge for those attempting to cleanse political legacies or stage comebacks at the expense of our members’ sacrifices. “The Social Democratic Party remains open to all who wish to join us in good faith, but such involvement must be grounded in a shared ideology, respect for the party’s constitution, and acknowledgment of the existing, legally recognized leadership structures.
“As we prepare for the forthcoming by-election, we wish to clarify that nomination forms and all other electoral processes will be coordinated solely by the legitimate State Working Committee. Any candidate engaging with unauthorized individuals or parallel structures does so at their own peril. “We also take this opportunity to reaffirm our complete loyalty and cooperation with the current national leadership of our party under the Acting National Chairman, Professor Sadiq Umar, and the National Secretary, Dr. Olu Ogunloye.”
