No Chance of Atiku, Obi Winning Tinubu in 2027 Presidential Contest, Says Presidency

The Presidency has unequivocally stated that there exists no possibility for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi to triumph over President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, articulated this assertion during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Thursday, emphasizing that the president’s accomplishments will advocate for him in the impending elections.
He further noted that the APC does not perceive the coalition of opposition politicians, formed under the banner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as a formidable threat.
He remarked, “They are at liberty to forge alliances, yet from the APC’s perspective, we do not regard them as a threat… Even if Peter Obi and Atiku were to unite, there is no conceivable way they could surpass a Bola Tinubu and Shettima ticket. It is an impossibility.”
Onanuga also criticized the coalition, asserting, “They are prematurely engaging in politicking; the time for such activities has not yet arrived.”
Tinubu champions freedom of speech and expression. He bears no responsibility for the difficulties the ADC is encountering. He was not even present in Nigeria when their internal issues began.
Addressing the potential strength Atiku and Obi might bring as part of the ADC, Onanuga responded, “Atiku has been in the presidential race more frequently than Tinubu and Obi.
He has made numerous attempts to secure the presidency, yet he consistently falls short. If one considers the demographic and geographic composition of our nation, during his last bid, Atiku attempted to evoke regional sentiments, claiming ‘I’m your son,’ but the South did not embrace him. Even if Obi were to be selected as a running mate, it does not guarantee the same voter turnout as when he ran for president.”
Tinubu is making significant contributions to the North. In terms of appointments, individuals from the North-West and North-East have been placed in prominent positions, and in politics, a good deed often warrants reciprocation from those who benefit from Tinubu’s administration.
There is considerable clamor, yet it does not align with the actual situation. Many are reaping the benefits of Tinubu’s leadership, and at the opportune moment, Tinubu will capitalize on this — those under his governance have indeed prospered.
