I’ve Executed More Projects Than Any FCT Senator Kingibe Boasts

Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has boldly asserted that she has executed more constituency projects within her two-year tenure than any of her predecessors, including those who served for over a decade.

Speaking in Abuja, Kingibe stated that her achievements are evident and verifiable by residents across the FCT. She emphasized that her commitment to grassroots development stems from genuine goodwill and a hands-on approach to leadership.

“In my two years as a senator, I have done more constituency projects than almost any other senator. In fact, the senator who served the longest twelve years has not done half of what I’ve done,” she declared confidently.

According to her, her proactive approach includes lobbying for additional resources and directly engaging ministers and heads of agencies, despite the perceived protocol hierarchy. “Ministers may rank below senators in protocol, but I go to them if that’s what it takes to get things done for my people. I also approach agency heads to advocate for FCT residents. I’m their only voice at the Senate, aside from the House of Reps members,” she said.

Kingibe lamented that most FCT development projects are focused on the central districts, while the majority of residents live in neglected areas. “The bulk of the people don’t live in Maitama or Asokoro. They live in the rest of Abuja where very little is happening,” she noted.

She also challenged claims of completed infrastructure, saying: “They commission roads and say they’re done after just nine kilometers, but I know the truth and I’ve documented it.”

Kingibe’s comments come ahead of the forthcoming area council elections, which she previously described as a referendum on the FCT administration’s performance under Minister Nyesom Wike.
