Anglican Vicar Praises Tinubu as Visionary at Wike’s Thanksgiving Service

The Vicar of St. James Anglican Church, Asokoro, Rev. Ben Idume, has publicly praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s foresight in appointing Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), describing the President as a man of vision whose decision is now bearing visible fruits.

Rev. Idume made the remark during a special thanksgiving service held in Abuja to honour the achievements of Wike in office, especially his transformation efforts across the nation’s capital.

“I will not fail to thank President Tinubu, who appointed this man (Nyesom Wike) to be minister. The president himself is a visionary. He can see vision somehow.

That was why he saw that this man (Wike) can do something… I never knew that Tinubu could see vision, whether he closes his eyes or opens them,” Rev. Idume said, drawing laughter and applause from the congregation.

The service, which drew political stakeholders, clergy, and supporters, served as a reflection point on the importance of competent leadership and bipartisan collaboration.

Wike, a prominent figure of the opposition PDP who currently serves in Tinubu’s APC-led administration, has been lauded for infrastructural upgrades, enforcement of development control, and renewal projects across the FCT.

Rev. Idume’s words have since gone viral after being aired by Channels Television and circulated widely on social media. Many have interpreted the statement as an acknowledgement of Tinubu’s unique ability to recognize capacity beyond party lines, a move that has helped reshape governance at the federal level.

The Thanksgiving event is part of a broader narrative celebrating Tinubu’s strategic appointments and Wike’s delivery record in Abuja, even as political calculations for 2027 begin to take shape.
