Focus on Facts, Not Insults, Aregbesola Urges ADC Supporters
Former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has called on supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to engage in issue-based politics rather than resorting to personal attacks or inflammatory language.
Speaking during a recent interaction with party members and supporters in Lagos, Aregbesola emphasized the need for political discourse to be anchored on facts, constructive criticism, and national interest.
He said the rising trend of abusive language in political conversations, especially on social media, could undermine the credibility of the opposition and distract from pressing national issues.
“Our supporters must focus on facts and ideas, not insults. We cannot build a better Nigeria by tearing others down. Let our words reflect the future we want to build,” he said.
Aregbesola also reiterated his support for the opposition coalition’s goals and urged all stakeholders within the ADC to remain committed to unity, discipline, and progressive ideals. He warned that character assassination and internal wrangling could derail the party’s mission ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former Osun State Governor noted that the Nigerian electorate is becoming more discerning and will respond positively to political actors who prioritize solutions over sensationalism.
His comments come amid growing tensions within the opposition bloc as parties and interest groups strategize for broader alliances ahead of the next election cycle.
Aregbesola’s message is seen as a call for maturity and civility as political activities intensify.
