Chelsea Signs Gittens from Borussia Dortmund for £48.5 Million

Chelsea Football Club have confirmed the signing of highly-rated winger Jamie Gittens from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £48.5 million, with an additional £3.5 million in potential add-ons.
The 20-year-old England Under-21 international has signed a seven-year contract with the West London club, committing his long-term future to Stamford Bridge. Gittens becomes the latest addition in Chelsea’s active summer transfer window under new manager Enzo Maresca.
Gittens joined Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City in 2020 and quickly rose through the ranks, earning plaudits for his explosive pace and attacking flair. During his time in Germany, he made 107 appearances for Dortmund, scoring 17 goals and providing 14 assists across all competitions.
A product of the Manchester City academy, Gittens is widely regarded as one of the most promising English talents of his generation. His move marks a return to England and signals Chelsea’s intent to build a youthful and dynamic squad for the future.
Chelsea’s summer business has been brisk, with the arrival of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, Brighton & Hove Albion forward Joao Pedro, Sporting CP midfielder Dario Essugo, and Strasbourg defender Mamadou Sarr preceding Gittens’ announcement.
Chelsea view Gittens as a key part of their attacking rebuild, aiming to inject pace, creativity, and goal threat from the flanks.
With Club World Cup underway, Gittens is expected to join up with his new teammates immediately.
